The day you brought your first computer home, your world suddenly changed. Instead of chasing mundane everyday tittle-tattle, you delved deep into the mysteries of cyber space and were rewarded with the wealth of information hitherto unknown. Every new day ushered in and opened a new chapter in your life, so full of knowledge, so breathtakingly fresh and so informative that you almost lost count of the hours of the day or night and sometimes, even simple creature comforts became irrelevant to you. But what happened when your little darling daughter hopped snugly on your lap and looking at the fast changing images on the multi-color monitor in front of her said, “papa, why don’t you let me run the computer?”

Frankly speaking, another new door opened on that day. Even before she could comprehend the limitless enormity of the cyber space, you considered, she could jolly well pick up all the learning games that the world-wide-web has to offer. And that was the beginning of a newer relationship between the father and daughter from which both received ample pleasure and contentment.

There are countless learning games for kids online and a little surfing will work wonders in getting you whatever you could be asking for – even much more than that. For a seven year old girl, Halloween games could be perfect. And for that, all you have to do is to start searching for Halloween learning games for kids under Google.com. Also, very many other websites offer various learning games for kids.

Mind you, children are quite adept in handling computers once they are introduced and in a few days, the little girl can acquire the knowledge of so many learning games that even the parent will be left wondering. Halloween games are so simple, easy and satisfying that all other games introducing senseless violence on the monitor screen seems a waste of time. However, most of the Internet games are genuinely suited to young impressionable minds and children should be always encouraged to pursue them for learning, knowledge and wisdom.

Here are some simple tips for finding learning games for kids on the Internet. Open your computer and hop online to a search engine like Google. Type in the keywords “learning games for kids” and in about a couple of seconds your screen will be bombarded with such a mighty lot of learning games that you will find it difficult to choose. Hit upon them one by one and pretty soon you will be happy to find your desired site.

Make your child read on and the excited face will automatically let you know to what extent the kid has been caught up with the contents. With online learning games for kids, your children will gather valuable information about Reading, Writing, Maths, Manners, social norms, techniques of friendship and many more topics that would have taken many days and months to acquire. Do, it is time to introduce your children to the magic world of Internet learning games, absolutely free.

As a teacher, I know the importance of games for kids. I also know how hard it is to come up with games that kids like to do. However, it can be easier than you think, especially when it comes to writing games. Writing is everywhere and you can do it wherever you go.

Sand and Glitter Games
I don’t know what it is about glitter but it makes sand come to life. Kids of all ages love glitter. In fact, I have a cookie sheet with just a little bit of sand and glitter in it and adults find themselves drawn to it. People can’t help but to doodle in the sand. Make this simple and easy craft and your kids will write all the time. Your only chore will be pulling them away.

You will need:
• 9x12x1/4 cookie sheet
• 1 cup sand
• 1 tablespoon glitter (any color or multi-color)

Mix the sand, glitter in the cookie sheet, and let the kids have at it. Kids can draw their name, pictures, and all kinds of stuff in the sand. Let their imagination run wild!

Freezer Bag and Paint Games
This is ooey gooey fun. Something about squishy paint makes kids go wild. The paint just oozes all over the bag to create some fun filled pictures. Creative kids learn how to manipulate the paint to make their pictures last longer.

You will need:
• Heavy duty freezer bag
• Heavy duty duct tape
• Glue
• Temper Paint

Instructions:
1. Mix the paint and glue to get a thick consistency. You do not want the paint to be runny but more of a honey type texture.
2. Pour the paint into the bag about ¼ full.
3. Squeeze out the air before sealing the bag.
4. Once the bag is closed, tape the edges with the duct tape to prevent accidental leakage.
5. Use your finger to draw in the paint and watch it ooze back into place covering what you just drew.

iPod/iPhone Games
The iPod/iPhone has several apps that allow drawing. All you need to do is go to the App Store and download them. Some of them are free and others cost anywhere from $0.99 to $9.99 depending on what they do.

You will want to monitor the apps you download for your kid based on the age of your child. Some of them are more appropriate for younger kids and some I would not dare give to a child. Use your best judgment as you know your own kids and you know what they would like.

Finding games for your kids is easier than ever. Not only can you find cool stuff to do around your house, you can download games and take them with you on your iPod to go. If only we were so lucky when we were kids.

Games are kids’ favorite pastime. We can motivate, grab their interest, and teach them almost anything while they are having fun. Take a look at free on line games for kids. There are thousands of them on the internet that showcase educational games, and play to learn strategies driven by curiosity and eagerness to master simple and then more challenging tasks.
Although these materials would really be a channel for these kids to excel in Math, Science, Spelling, etc. , many parents are reluctant to encourage children to use computer games. They are afraid they will waste their time.
For example, if you wanted to teach spelling to children, would they know where to start? A google search might be a good beginning. First parents could take a look, and then show their children how to search and how to choose a safe, easy, fun game. Can you really go on line and practice math or other skills? It can be of great benefit these days because kids need to learn internet savvy.
School is tough if new words show up and you do not know their meaning or how to spell them. It’s a better idea to start young kids with practices to be saturated with words. A new word or words per day would benefit them a lot!
The strategy is to immerse them in books, games that incorporate words, and enhance their listening skills by exposing them to theatrical plays, TV/radio newscasts. Even watching SCRIPPS national spelling bee on televisions would stir their interest on spelling and vocabulary.
Although you can encourage them to read books or magazines, many of them will not like to do this. In that event, let them play games on line through the use of SMART GAMES. Many sites and games on line are free or for pay, but be sure to test them first before letting your young genius use it.
These games will dominate your child’s attention so that they can get the knowledge they need. This is where on line games make a difference from other games for children. There is a high retention rate for those who are exposed to these games. Thus, the more a game is played, the more likely it would be a learning experience for kids.
For them it takes less effort to play, because they are having fun and the games are easy to learn. The rewards are great, an investment in your child’s future success. They get quality computer time and yet benefit from learning words or math. Consider learning games for any age child. You’ll be happy that you made this wise decision to invest in your child’s future.
The most important point here is make it a habit to watch your children’s development. Your seemingly small contribution can bring a large reward by honing your child’s abilities.

Be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water if you criticize electronic games for kids, or even ban them from your children, because the right ones can provide a very positive educational experience. Educators have long taken advantage of children’s passion for games, and especially for computer games. The usual approach is to overlay some educational content onto a familiar game format. Educational computer games must be played in an entertaining way. A type of game that easily combines amusement and learning are strategy games. Educational experts have always known that learning is most effective when students enjoy the experience, and even more so when it is interactive. Therefore it was to be expected that educational innovators would harness the immense popularity of electronic games for kids to learning, and no bad thing that they are. Students can be introduced to the common technological tools, techniques and styles in computer games development. Activities will include how to modify classic computer games as well as design and develop original computer games. Students had four computer periods per week with electronic games. The computer room was also full during lunch periods and many students stayed for two hours or more after school. Children learn eye hand coordination and mental strategy through the right choice of games. Some are even educational and they can learn about history and culture as in the age of empire game. Children are becoming addicted to the games, it is often said, and “they are into it body and soul. ” It might also be added that; “Their body language is tremendous and shows how well they concentrate everything the have upon zapping the enemy and that is why electronic games for kids are so popular. “There’s nothing constructive in those games beyond developing an ability to concentrate. But, there are also still many other good electronic games for kids which are also educational video games, but the kind the kids like most tend to be the kind they are about Martians coming in that ‘have to be killed’, and so forth. This is why parental guidance and involvement expecially with young children is absolutely essential, to guide the you and give the child “values” by which they will in future be able to moderate their on use of the internet and their use of computers generally.
